PORTRAIT OF A CATECHIST

The Call – It comes in many ways but when the call from God touches the heart it evokes a response.
The Commitment – A catechist is a witness to a belief in God’s presence. He/she shares this belief in the words they speak, in the way they act, in their practice of prayer and in their participation in liturgy.
The Mission – The catechist acts on Jesus’ imperative to “Go forth and teach…” the truth about God in the person of Jesus Christ.
The Journey – The ordinary experiences of everyday life become the story of our path to God. A catechist shares and reflects on their journey while encouraging others to recognize the presence of God in their own lives.
