Bags of Candy needed!!! Saint Lawrence School will hold their annual Halloween Trunk or Treat on October 25. If you can donate a bag of candy, please drop it off at the school or parish office before that date.

Devotional Publications Available

Grow closer to God this fall! Pick up a copy of the devotional publication The Word Among Us and spend 5 to 10 minutes each day reflecting on the word of God for your life. Copies are located in the narthex. The Word Among Us features uplifting and thought-provoking meditations based on the daily Mass readings. The October issue is about developing a deeper connection with God in prayer, including how to pray with the attitudes and dispositions that Jesus taught us in the Our Father.
As always, we also have the bimonthly publication One Bread, One Body available in the narthex. The Oraciones bilingual prayerbook is also available for a donation of $1.50.

Next Sunday, October 13, please remember to turn in your Facilities & Maintenance envelope in our regular collection. Thank you for your continued generosity.

Need a little extra cash? Saint Lawrence Sports Committee is looking for a person to manage the gym and people to work during events.
To apply for any of these positions, please contact our athletic director as soon as possible:
Keith Minch 317-416-9113

In honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (celebrated on Friday, October 4), Deacon Tom will bless your pets on Sunday, October 6 from 1:00-2:00pm (AFTER the Noon Mass). Please bring your pets to the sidewalk in front of the main church doors to receive a special blessing.

Sexual Abuse Scandal

The sexual abuse scandal has gripped the Catholic Church for the past thirty years, and continues to wreak havoc even today. It's been a diabolical masterpiece, one that has compromised the work of the Church in every way and has left countless lives in ruins. Many Catholics are understandably asking, “Why should I stay? Why not abandon this sinking ship before it drags me or my children under?"

In this stirring manifesto, Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, explains why this is not the time to leave, but the time to stay and fight. Reading the current crisis through the lenses of Scripture and Church history, Bishop Barron shows that we have faced such egregious scandals before; that the spiritual treasures of the Church were preserved by holy men and women who recommitted themselves to fighting evil; and that there is a clear path forward for us today.

For Catholics questioning their faith, searching desperately for encouragement and hope, this book will offer reasons to stay and fight for the Body of Christ.

St. Lawrence has purchased copies of this book for each family in our parish.  If you did not pick one up after Mass this past weekend, please stop by the Parish Office to get your copy!

Want to discuss this book? Deacon Tom will lead two book discussions in English:  Wednesday, September 18 at 7pm at St. Lawrence School (enter through door #1), and Sunday, September 22 after the noon Mass (1:15pm) in the Learning Center at Church
