FOOTBALL

We will have 2 teams this year: 3rd & 4th and 5th & 6th

For 7th and 8th grade we will again have to merge with another school. To asses our exact numbers for our host school, please notify Keith Minch ASAP at 416-9113 if your son is interested in playing football this year.

1. Conditioning practice will start next week (July 30th) for 34 and 56 and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm until school starts. Once school starts, practice dates will be reassessed and may or may not change.

2. Football to do list:
a) Register at www.orgsonline.com
b) Obtain physical on IHSAA Physical Form (any physical performed after June 1st, 2019 is good)
c) Pay $125 registration fee

FOOTBALL COACH NEEDED – CYO has switched the 3rd and 4th grade league to a 7 on 7 and games are played on half of a field. With a lower number of boys needed, we have been able to enter a 3rd and 4th grade team unlike the past couple of years. However, we currently do not have a coach and are accepting applications. If interested, contact Keith Minch at 317-416-9113.

KICKBALL

We will have 2 teams this year: 3rd and 4th and a 5th and 6th.

2. Practice will be held next week on Monday (July 29) and Wednesday (July 31st) from 4:30 pm to 6:00pm.

Sexual Abuse Scandal

The sexual abuse scandal has gripped the Catholic Church for the past thirty years, and continues to wreak havoc even today. It's been a diabolical masterpiece, one that has compromised the work of the Church in every way and has left countless lives in ruins. Many Catholics are understandably asking, “Why should I stay? Why not abandon this sinking ship before it drags me or my children under?"

In this stirring manifesto, Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, explains why this is not the time to leave, but the time to stay and fight. Reading the current crisis through the lenses of Scripture and Church history, Bishop Barron shows that we have faced such egregious scandals before; that the spiritual treasures of the Church were preserved by holy men and women who recommitted themselves to fighting evil; and that there is a clear path forward for us today.

For Catholics questioning their faith, searching desperately for encouragement and hope, this book will offer reasons to stay and fight for the Body of Christ.

St. Lawrence has purchased copies of this book for each family in our parish.  If you did not pick one up after Mass this past weekend, please stop by the Parish Office to get your copy!

Want to discuss this book? Deacon Tom will lead two book discussions in English:  Wednesday, September 18 at 7pm at St. Lawrence School (enter through door #1), and Sunday, September 22 after the noon Mass (1:15pm) in the Learning Center at Church
