Denver
Bible study:
It’s not
just for Protestants anymore
Through
parish Bible study groups, Catholics are growing in
understanding of scripture, enlivening their faith,
and getting closer to God and one another.
We are now beginning our recruitment of
new students for the second-year of the Catholic Biblical
School, school year 2003-2004. Classes
begin in mid September and run until mid May. All classes
meet once a week for 2 hours.
Catholic
Biblical School of Denver founded in
1982 to help adults in the Archdiocese of Denver learn
to know, love, and live scripture, the Catholic Biblical
School Program offers a proven program of in-depth Scripture
study in the Catholic tradition. It provides both an
understanding of the meaning of God's word and the application
of its message to our lives today.
The
Catholic Biblical School Program offers
adults a four-year course of study of Sacred Scripture
in accord with the teachings of the Church and with
reference to its application to contemporary life. The
goal of the Catholic Biblical
Study is to understand our journey in
this life, become renewed, a closer relationship with
our creator and activate God word in daily living.
Minnesota Deacon Gary Hoffman tells people
that if they take this course and stay with it, it is
the equivalent of 24 to 26 college credits over the
course of four years. The
Denver Bible School Program differs
from others in that it is very academic, yet practical.
Denver's is a scripture study
course.
The Denver
Bible Study Program is a historical-critical
study of Scripture. People who complete the four-year
course remark that they better understood the Sunday
scripture readings; they began to understand what they
were called to do once the Word was broken open by the
preacher. This is an important factor for all people
that the knowledge gained be balanced by a call to action.
